3 Small Changes to Boost Your Energy This Holiday Season
The holiday season is here, and while it’s supposed to be full of joy, many breast cancer survivors, like you, feel more exhaustion than excitement. With a towering stack of cards to write, holiday shopping to do, and family commitments piling up, it’s no wonder you might feel completely drained.
But what if you didn’t have to do it all? What if you could focus on small, manageable changes that help you reclaim some of your energy and joy this holiday season?
Hey there, I’m Karin Del Maestro, your Thrivership Coach, and today I’m here to talk about how a few small changes can make a big difference in how you feel during this busy time of year. As a breast cancer survivor myself, I know just how draining the holidays can be—physically, emotionally, and mentally.
But what I’ve learned over the years is that it’s the little things that make the biggest impact.
So, let’s focus on three simple, energy-boosting changes that you can easily incorporate into your routine this season, without feeling overwhelmed. Ready? Let’s dive in!
1. Start Your Day with Water
You’ve probably heard the advice before, but it’s a game-changer. We all know the temptation to grab coffee or tea first thing in the morning, but I want to invite you to start your day with a glass of water. It’s a small, but powerful change that sets you up for success. Not only does it help flush out toxins from your liver and kidneys, but it also hydrates your body, making you feel more awake and ready to face the day.
If you’re already drinking water in the morning—awesome! If not, give it a try for a week and see how it makes you feel. It’s an easy win and a great way to boost your energy levels right off the bat.
2. Pause for Joy
The holidays can feel like a never-ending to-do list. But in the chaos, make it a priority to pause for joy. Whether it’s lighting a toxin-free candle, enjoying a favorite holiday movie, or even listening to your favorite song—these little moments of joy can boost your mood and energy. It’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness, but allowing yourself to just breathe and be present will recharge you, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
I know you’re busy—but you deserve to experience joy and calm too. So take a moment, press pause, and reconnect with what makes you smile.
3. End Your Day with Gratitude
This is one of my absolute favorites—winding down with gratitude. It’s proven that reflecting on the positive aspects of your day can improve your sleep and emotional well-being. Try this: before bed, jot down three things you’re grateful for. It could be something as simple as having a warm bed to sleep in or feeling proud of yourself for accomplishing a task, big or small. These moments of gratitude will shift your mindset and bring you peace as you close out your day.
Bonus Tip: Kick Negative Nancy to the Curb
Let’s face it—sometimes that negative voice in our head can be our biggest obstacle. We all have a “Negative Nancy” who tells us it’s not enough or that small steps don’t matter. But I’m here to tell you that small wins add up. One step at a time will get you where you want to go, and that progress is powerful.
I want to invite you to DSD—Do Something Different. This holiday season, try something new. If you want your energy back, it’s time to make those small shifts that add up to big results.
